Transgression of Indian and Southern fishermen have increased in the seas off Point Pedro. Although we complained to the relevant authorities no action has been taken. Fishermen from the south and other districts, use powerful lights to catch beach-de-mer and scuttle fish. This is affecting our livelihood. Although some of are arrested for poaching they are released without taking any action.

Southern fishermen are trawling in our seas and destroy our fishing equipment. The y sell at low prices. During nights increased movement of   Cooler and Hi-ace vehicles is noted. We suspect drug smuggling is occurring there. After 5 p.m. this area is transformed into a drinking area. Filth is liberally used. Only people from the south are behaving in this way.

There is a big vihare built up in the area. We suspect that this is an attempt Buddhistize the area, they said. Sumanthiran promised that this will be discussed in the Coordinating Committee meeting and meeting and suitable decision will be taken.
