Attempt to grab the Kuchchaveli  Vinayagar Temple Land by Archaeological Department

The Administrators of the Kuchchaveli Pillaiyar Temple which come under Kuchchaveli Divisional Secretary area,  said that the Archaeological department is attempting to grab the lands belonging to the temple.

This land in extent of 10 acre 4 Root 14 perch was granted to the Temple during British period , in 1896. The temple is undertaking paddy cultivation in the land.

In this  context, under the guise of a small pillar found in this land the Archaeological Department had banned the temple from cultivating the land. The Administration complained that they have already sowed paddy in the land , but they are prevented from erecting any fence to protect the paddy plants.

The administration had informed the Kuchchaveli police, ASP and the Divisional Secretary of the situation. The officials have informed the temple that the situation will be studied and decision will be taken regarding the matter.
