Attempted Murder Case of Gotabhaya Rajapakse, accused Hindu priest released after Confession being  rejected

A Hindu priest who was charged with aiding and abetting the attempted suicide bomb attack on Gotabhaya Rajapakse was released un-conditionally by the Colombo High Court, after being in prison for 13 years.

A Hindu priest by the name Sri Skantharajah Sarma has been released like this. Justice Sampath Abeykoone ordered that accuse be released after it was revealed that the Confession of the Hindu priest was not voluntary.

Following the State Counsel in forming the court that no other evidence is available against the accused the court ordered as above.

During the inquiry it came to light that the released priest had been in prison for 13 years, prior to his release.
