The Students of the Jaffna University undertook an attention drawing rally demanding the fulfillment of the requests of the Tamil Political Prisoners in the Anuradhapura Prison and to expedite the release of the other TPPs in Prison, today at 10 a.m.
Continuous Attention drawing struggles had been undertaken by the University Community, in the past periods, on behalf of the TPPs. Particularly, 3 TPPs in Anuradhapura Prison were fasting for more than a month demanding that their cases be not transferred from Vavuniya Courts.
In a context where the promises given by those in power and politicians being not fulfilled the students had decided to take their struggle to an International level and carry them out in a way to exert constant pressure on the Government and continue their struggle until a just solution is delivered to the aggrieved TPPs.
Thus, today they started the procession from the University premises to the UN Office in Navalar Road and will hand over a memorandum to the Office. All public Organizations had pledged their support for this rally. The University Students had called on the youth, and Public Organizations, to support them by participating in the Rally.
