The Bail application of SDIG Lalith Jayasinghe, who has been remanded, charged with aiding to “Swizz Kumar’ to escape after being arrested in connection with Vidya’s Murder case, was rejected by the Kayts Magistrate and was ordered to be remanded till 22nd.
Yesterday’s hearing had brought several new matters to light. SDIG Lalith Jayasinghe, who served as the SDIG of Northern Province and serving as the DIG of the Uva Province, was arrested by the CID, accused of Aiding the main suspect in the Vidya Murder Case to escape and was remanded. In this context the case was taken up for hearing yesterday at the Kayts Magistrate Court.
AALs of the SDIG appealed that as the B- report of the police had not indicated any evidence against SDIG, he be released on bail.
Although it is alleged that State Minister Wijeyakala , V.T.Thamizhmaran and SI, Sri Kajan are involved in this case and Video clips were in the web sites for more than one year, no inquiries had been made from them.
However, the Prosecution pointed out that the SDIG was transferred earlier under orders from IGP, as it was suspected that he will interfere in the inquiries.
Following this the judge remanded the SDIG, till 22nd.
