Ban on Thiruketeeswaram Arch – due to pressure of some Catholic priests of Mannar diocese

The granting of permission to construct the Entrance Arch to Thiruketheeswaram and the subsequent revoking of the approval by the Chairman of Mannar Pradeshiya Sabha, S.H.M.Mujahir, within 24 hours has shocked and bereaved the Hindu Population.

The Administration of the Thiruketheeswaram Temple had applied for approval for the construction of Entrance Arch to the Temple in a legal way. The Mannar Pradeshiya Sabha considered this application and granted approval for it.

However, the Chairman of Mannar Pradeshiya Sabha, S.H.M.Mujahir informed the administrators that the approval had been cancelled within 24 hours of granting the approval.

The approval was cancelled due to heavy pressure from some Catholic priests of the Mannar Diocese, the Pradeshiya Sabha circles have said.

Granting permission to construct the Entrance Arch to Thiruketheeswaram and the Catholic priests  being behind the subsequent revoking of the approval by the Chairman of Mannar Pradeshiya Sabha, S.H.M.Mujahir, within 24 hours have made the existence of Hindu people in Mannar District,  a big question.

This also has put the security of the Hindu temples in Mannar District also in to question.
