Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama will engage in bilateral talks on 25th January, the day the foreign leader arrives in India for his three-day state visit. Obama is the first US president to visit India twice. He will be accompanied by US First Lady Michelle Obama. This visit is termed as “One of the most important diplomatic engagements in recent times’.
President Obama will arrive on the morning of January 25 and he will be received by Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal at the airport as per current proposal. Obama will then be given a full ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan where he will meet PM Modi. As per protocol, the US President will then pay homage at Rajghat, memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. This will be followed by bilateral talks at Hyderabad House between Obama and Modi. The Prime Minister will then host a luncheon which will involve further delegation-level talks. In the evening, President Pranab Mukherjee will hold a banquet for Obama at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
