Buddhist monks cause new controversy at Neeraviyadi Temple introducing Archaeological ruins

A new controversy has been created by the Vihare faction yesterday by showing that non- Hindu archaeological ruins are available at the Temple complex.

Around 30 Buddhist monks from Western Province came in a bus to see the Vihare constructed at the Neeraviyadi Pillaiyar Kovil Complex.

During this visit the Vihare  faction had indicated to the monks that the Pillayar Temple complex belong to the Archaeological Department and there are archaeological ruins in the complex.

Thus, there is a display area in the Army Camp located opposite the Temple where few archaeological ruins are exhibited. These ruins were shown to the visiting monks. Further there are some ruins to be found in the Jungle area nearby. Area people say that these ruins were not there earlier. They say that this is a deliberate act create new controversy regarding the temple premises.
