Butterfly connected to Silk production found in Velanai

A butterfly having close connection to a butterfly variety playing a major role in production of silk was caught in Velanai, Jaffna, said the Dean of the zoology Faculty of the Jaffna University, Dr. Mrs. E.Gnaneswaran

Mrs Vijendran Anuradha, who is working as a Pharmacist had caught this butterfly identified as of ‘Antheraea cingalesa’ variety.  Although their presence was known in Western, Central, North-western and Uva Provinces, this is the first time it has found in Northern Province.
