We cannot allow the government to take away the income of the North, CM says to Norway Foreign Minister
The Chief Minister of the NPC, C.V.Wigneswaran has said to the Norwegian State Secretary for Development Cooperation Jens Frolich Holte that, all incomes earned through the Tourist centres should be used to undertake development of the North and we cannot allow the Government to take those incomes to the south.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Norway, Jens Frolich Holte and his group are on a three days visit to Sri Lanka and met the Northern CM, C.V.Wigneswaran at his Office.
The meeting extended for around 30 minutes and the CM told the media men as above. Commenting on the meeting he said that the Norway Minister informed him that Tamil Diaspora is willing to undertake development work here in conjunction with the University of Jaffna and learned my opinion on the offer of the Diaspora.
Minister told me that, if CM’s Fund is approved, funds could be obtained, from the Diaspora and development projects could be undertaken here. He further said costal line here is very beautiful and as a part of the Norway’s project clean sea coasts, he is to visit the northern coasts for consideration of cleaning them.
