Carbon Dating says Mannar Mass Grave skeletons belong to years 1499 and 1719 AD

The report of the carbon dating done in Florida, America has indicated that the skeletons found in the Mass Grave at Mannar are 300 to 500 years old.

The report on the skeletons says they belong to people who were buried between the period between 1499 and 1719 AD.

8 skeletons from among around 330 skeletons recovered from the Mass Grave were selected and sent for carbon dating to Florida. The results of the dating had been informed to Mannar Judge.

In this context, the Special JMO in charge of the excavation, Chamintha Rajapakse has said that the decision as to whether to continue excavation or not had not been taken so far.
