Case against President’s pardon to convicted murderer to be taken up today in Supreme Court

The case filed against the President granting general amnesty to an Army officer Sunil Ratnayake condemned for murdering 8 innocent Tamil people in Mirusuvil area, is to be taken up for hearing in the Supreme Court today.

Sunil Ratnayake who was condemned to death in the case of Army men murdering 8 innocent Tamil people including 4 children in 2000 at Mirusuvil area was pardoned and released by President Gotabhaya Rajapakse.

AAL Sayanthan had filed a case objecting his pardoning on behalf of a relative of one of the victim in the supreme court. This case was filed by electronic means on the last 23rd.

The above case to be taken up for hearing today.

President’s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran will appear for the affected in this case, it is reported.
