The Jaffna Chamber of Commerce expressed its support to the Graduates who have taken up a struggle demanding state employment.
They issued a media statement regarding the matters, highlights of which are given below. It is an essential thing to provide employment very soon to the graduates who have taken up a struggle in front of Jaffna District Secretariat demanding state employment.
The unemployed graduates struggling for many days for state employment. But no solution has been found for their problem to date. It is our duty to act in support to our students. Our University students had complete their studies with much anticipation and surmounting several obstacles and a cruel war situation, but are subjected to inquietude without appropriate employment to them.
Although there are several employment opportunities available in the Colombo Offices, Department and Ministries, the percentage of Tamils employed there very much less. Our representation is very inadequate for a long time. We are being excluded.
Hence we request the President and Prime minister to induct Tamil graduates in all sectors. We wish to bring to your kind attention that, the future and the livelihood of these graduates are depending on the employment provided to them.
