Channel 4 journalist with Prime Minister’s letter refused admittance to HSZ

The Channel 4 journalist who tried to visit Myliddy Harbour was refused admittance into HSZ, despite them having a letter authorizing them to go anywhere in the country, by the Prime Minister, Ranil.

Earlier they visited IDP camps and met the people housed there.

The Channel 4 journalists including Jon Snow arrived at Sri Lanka with the permission from Ranil. The Channel 4 journalist primarily came for the Fareway Galle Literature festival. Jon Snow also delivered an address, in this not widely published event, to which local journalists, artists and politicians were not invited. This has raised doubts about journalist of Channel 4, which is noted for its stand on war crimes, and presumed to be in possession of further war crimes evidences, being invited to a Government sponsored event.

However, optimism had been expressed that the Channel 4 will continue to stand for the justice to Tamil people.
