A team led by the CM, NPC, met the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, Thibbodduwewa Sri Sumangala Thero yesterday at pre noon hours.
I clarified to the Mahanayake that Federalism is not secession but one, that could unite the country, said the CM to mediamen after meeting the Chief prelate.
Provincial Ministers K.Sivanesan and Mrs. Ananthy Saseethan accompanied the CM for the meeting. It is also reported that, one person on behalf of the TPC participated in this.
In this meeting the CM had insisted with the Mahanayake that he is not a racist and he had explained to him the problems encountered by the Tamils.
There are 89,000 woman Leadership families in the North. They without any effective livelihood. Southern fishermen are engaged in fishing in the North with the connivance of the Army. The fishermen in the North are affected by this and several other problems. The people in the south should clearly understand the situation prevailing in the North. Your Hon. self should make the Government aware of the setbacks we are suffering. Any problem should be solved by dialogue, the CM had said.
While the Mahanayake gifted the CM with a Buddha statue and a book of Dhamma Patha, a copy of the Solution Proposals made by the TPC, was handed over to the prelate.
He had not visited the North since the inception of the NPC. I have invited him to visit North, the CM said.
