A Colombo based English Daily had published a front page news, that, the Northern Chief Minister, Justice C.V.Wigneswaran, who is on a visit to London for signing a twin city agreement between Kingston and Jaffna, was asked to hoist the LTTE flag in the meeting held at Harrow, London yesterday and he had refused to do so. However this news has been denied.
While saying that Wigneswaran was asked to hoist the LTTE flag in this meeting and that he had refused to do so and he had further said that he cannot speak in the meeting if he is asked hoist the flag, this daily has also said that this meeting was organized by a Pro-LTTE Organization.
When the organizers of the meeting was contacted over this, they said there is no truth in this news and that the public had organized the meeting and the organizations in the UK had supported it, they said.
Thy further said absolutely at no instance, that the CM had been talked to, regarding LTTE flag, not a single person who had participated in this meeting, came with a LTTE flag, and noted that this meeting was held to felicitate the Chief Minister and to share ideas and opinions with the public regarding the Twin City agreement signed by the Northern Provincial Council with the Kingston Council.
It is notable that VIPs of several Organization in the President of the Tamil National Alliance’s British Branch Lawyer R.D. Ratnasingam participated in yesterday’s meeting and felicitated the Chief Minister.
