The Commander SF- Jaffna requests 1 Billion to shift Army Camps in the North
The Commander of SF-J, Major General Dharsana Hettiarachchi said yesterday that he requested the Government to provide Rs.1 Billion to shift the Army Camps in the Jaffna Peninsula.
He said so in reply, when he was asked to comment on the release of lands to the people. He further said that he had intimated to the Government that alternate lands and Rs.1 Million are needed to shift the Army camps from the people’s lands and to release other lands used by the Army.
We are taking action to release the lands as per the orders of the President and if the alternate lands money is made available, we will be able to release the lands of the people within this year.
It is notable that the President had said in the Defense meeting that if the Security Forces will identify alternate lands, the Government is prepared to release the required money.
