Congress-ITAK  coalition on understanding basis-Chamber of Commerce endeavor to bring both sides together

In the context of suspension in forming the government had been created by the LG Elections, the Chamber of Commerce , Jaffna and Organizations of Civil Societies are pursuing a vigorous attempt to bring together the Tamil Congress and Tamil Arasuk kaddchi in forming a coalition govern in the North, on the basis of an understanding. The 1st stage of the negotiations had been completed with the sides.

As per the results of the LG Elections in the North the ITAK has secured more seats in 27 Bodies and the ACTC in 2 Bodies, but neither party has the absolute majority to form the government.

ACTC has said that they will form the government in Chavakacheri and Point Pedro, and they may ask for Nallur PS also where the Independent group led by former Minister Ainkaranesan has won two seats.

ITAK could form the Government in the LG Bodies where they have got more seats. We will support good moves but will oppose bad ones, the ACTC has said.

A meeting of the TNA was held yesterday in the ITAK office in Jaffna. Mawai Senathyrajah,  Selvam Adaikalanathan , T.Sitharthan, and M.A.Sumanthiran participated in this meeting.

It has been discussed  regarding not leaving the formation of LG Government  in confusion and the  Chamber’s move to bring both parties together.

Meanwhile, although, the former Mayor has claimed in a meeting of the EPDP with leading Businessmen in Jaffna (Less than 10) that the EPDP is the ‘King maker’ while major winners ITAK and ACTC have out rightly rejected a coalition with EPDP.
