Contribution of Jaffna Farmers in the decline of prices of vegetables in Sri Lanka

The prices of vegetables in Sri Lanka, which were on an increasing trend for some time, suddenly had declined thanks to the contributions of the Northern farmers, it is learnt.

For the last few days vegetables and fruits produced in Jaffna are being brought to Dambulla, the main vegetable market in Sri Lanka.

 Around 35 lorries bring Vegetables and Fruits to Dambulla market from Jaffna daily, and this had made the supply of Vegetables and fruits adequate in the Dambulla Market.

Because of this Cabbage, Carrot, Green Chilies, Beet-root, Pumpkin, Lime,  Brinjal, red Onions and other vegetables and fruits selling at very high prices are available at less prices.

The Dambulla traders expressed pleasure in that, the ordinary people will benefit by this drop in prices.
