The excavations at the Mannar Sathosa Mass Grave was continued for the 98th day, despite heavy rains prevailing in the area. The skeletons are continued to be identified and removed for storage.
This task is being undertaken under the supervision of the Mannar Magistrate, T.Saravanarajah and Special JMO Chamintha Rajapakse.
The Special JMO, in a media conference held at the Mass Grave site said that, With yesterday, 98 days of excavation had been undertaken, 216 remains had been identified up to yesterday and that 209 of them had been removed for storage. Tasks of Identifying and removal are continuing.
He further said that the Mannar Magistrate Court had granted permission to send important remains and other articles of evidence to Florida for analysis.
It is notable that although, the media men asked several question on the excavations, remains found and the conclusions reached in analysis, the Special JMO failed to answer them.
