Mannar Magistrate Court has banned photographing and videoing of the excavations at Mannar mass grave where more than 60 skeletons and other human remains have been excavated, by local and foreign journalists, TV services and print media, from Tuesday.
It had been indicated in the order put out by the court, that entering the premises relevant to case no: B 232/2018 where excavations are being carried out, photographing and videoing the proceedings have been banned.
Some human remains were first found in the Mannar, Sathosa premises relevant the Case No: B 232/2018 and further excavations are being carried out to get an expert opinion of the detections.
It had been reported that the ban has been imposed to continue the excavations without hindrance.
Neutral observers said that the ban will hinder the transparency of the excavations.
