The Coordinator of the Northern Governor, Suntharam Divahalala has said that the people of the Jaffna Peninsula are facing a danger of vacating the peninsula en-masse in just over 50 years.
Speaking at an event yesterday he said that the Peninsula is transforming into a desert without water to drink.
Use of Bottled water from outside is becoming the trend here. The Tanks and water reservoirs here should be renovated and rain water stored in them.
Proper plans should be devised and implemented to solve the water requirement of the Peninsula. If the intellectuals will not pay their attention on this, the peninsula people will be forced to vacate the Peninsula en-masse in 50 years, he warned.
