We should come together beyond, party, politics, caste, religious, discrimination and shedding our egos, without male, female discrimination, to bring a dawn into the lives of Tamil Eelam women who are carrying the traumas caused by the genocidal war, insisted Mpc, Ananthy Saseetharan The event of International Women’s Day was held on behalf of the NPC Ministry of Women’s Affairs with a theme of “Encouragement for Advancing” at Kilinochchi Cooperative Hall.
Elaborating further she said, Violations of Rights including the oppression, suppression, abuses, outrages cruelties perpetrated against women are happening beyond all boundaries of race, religion, languages and countries and are over times on a global basis.
We are undergoing all the cruelties committed by the male chauvinist society. Around 90,000 women have been rendered widows by 4 decades long genocidal wars waged by government after government. It is a heart breaking matter that most of these widows are age under 40.
The lives of wives of missing persons have been drawn between searching for their husbands and maintaining their families. Neither any security forces men nor the paramilitary groups that acted with them had been punished for the sexual violence they perpetrated on many school girls and killing them. They all are moving freely. Hence I insist that we get together without male- female difference for this purpose, she said.
