Demonstrations in North protesting Harisnavi’s rape and Murder
Demonstrations were held against the Rape and murder of 13 years old Harishnevi at Ukulankulam on the 16th by several factions including school students, traders and public organizations, in Kilinochchi, Mullaitheevu and Vavuniya. A protest rally was held in Vavuniya near Gamini Vidyalaya and the protesters went in a procession and held a demonstration there before handing over a memorandum to the District Secretary of Vavuniya. Students of several schools held protests in front of their respective schools.
Students of the Vavuniya Campus of The Jaffna University, Saiva Pragasa Primary, Saivapragasa Mahavidyalayam, Rambaikulam MV and Vipulanantha College held protest like this. Traders of the Public Market Kilinochchi held protest in Kilinochchi. Students of Vidyanantha College, Mullaitivu held a protest in front of their college. Sacred heart College, Karaveddy students also held a demonstration near their College, demanding justice for Harisnavi.
