The Deputy Solicitor General said yesterday in the Jaffna HC that nobody claimed to be made to disappear are held in any Army Camps.
A Writ of Mandamus regarding 24 youths who were arrested by the OC of the Navatkuly Army Camp, and subsequently made to disappear, filed in the HC, Jaffna was taken up for inquiries before HC Judge M.Ilancheliyan yesterday.
I could firmly say that no one of the youths arrested by the Navatkuly Army is being detained in the Army Camps now.
The Army AAL who appeared on behalf of the accused Army personnel said that no one of the people arrested by the Navatkuly Army is held in any Army Camp and this case should be dismissed as it had been filed after a long time, said the Deputy Solicitor General.
The AALs who appeared on behalf of the affected persons said in reply, that, the affected persons did not file any case through fear of life, in the situation prevailing in the country. Although they were reluctant earlier now they have come forward to file the case being convinced that, the judge will take up their case for trial.
Commenting on the statement of DSG that the document supposed to issued by the Chavakachcheri Divisional Secretary is fraudulent and only Photocopies of documents annexed in the case file, the AALs for plaintiffs said that the Divisional Secretary who issued the document is still alive and we obtain an affidavit certifying the truthfulness of the document and the originals of the documents are with us and we will now annex them to the case file.
