Despotism of Commissioner Pranavanathan: Pulls away shed leaving Fasting protester in hot sun

The Special Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council Pranavanathan, yesterday, had pulled  down the shed under which the leader of the Movement for the People Affected by War, V. Sahathevan had under taken a continuous fast, in view of the impending visit of the Indian Prime Minister Modi. Pranavanathan came to the spot with the Police and forcefully removed the shed.

Sahathevan had put forward several demands including release Tamil Political prisoners and people who had gone missing  and erecting of a memorial for all the people who got killed by war.

But the spectators were infuriated by the high handed act of the commissioner, who allowed Wesak celebrations all around the library.

Sahathevan is braving extra-ordinarily hot climate prevailing in the area is receiving the sympathy of the general public.

It is also notable that at Kallundai, he pushed aside the objections of the people and boldly said to them that he will continue dump garbage there and they can go to courts if they want and sped away in his official vehicle purchased from the tax money of the same public.
