Devolution of Power essential if the country should not be splited: says Minister Raub Hakeem

If the country is not to be split, Devolution Power  is essential. It is the righteous duty of every one to think about this realistically. This is great responsibility of all political Leaders. This could not be left for the next generation, the Minister of Urban Planning and Water Supply and the Leader of the SLMC, Ravub Hakeem had said.

He had stated so in an interview granted to a Colombo base Media. Elaborating further he had said, that, Devolution of Power is not meant for Tamil and Muslim People. I am a member of the Guidance Committee. All CMs from the south came before the committee and asked to increase trhe existing powers. Reduce the interventions of Governors they said. They also asked for the reduction of Colombo Government.

The culture of Devolution of Power had come to stay in the country. This could not be revoked. Some extremists are trying kindle fright saying the country will split. On the contrary, Power Devolution is needed to keep the country together.

Already, several thousands of innocent lives had been killed. There is nothing wrong in people demanding publicly, their Rights and Needs in a Democratic Country. These matters should be approached with understanding, he had said.
