Devolution of power should be shown in action, told the same thing to the government: says CM

8While saying that, if any Power Devolution is there, the government show it in action, the CM, C.V. Wigneswaran has also said that, when you are preparing Provincial projects take us also into it.

A group of officials including, the Minister of Finance and Media, Mangala Samaraweera  and the Governor of Central Bank, Indrajith Kumarasamy met the Northern CM at the Thinnai Hotel and had discussions with him.

He said as above while commenting on the discussion to the media.

Elaborating further he said, during the above discussions I placed forward some matters relevant to our faction. Whenever a project is prepared, our inputs also should be taken into it, I said. I also pointed out them that it is improper for the Central Government to prepare some project and then invite us to come and accept it.

If you accept that, there is any power devolution, accept us as partners, prepare the project and implement it, I had said, he said.

As a Minister who offers full support for Power Devolution, he accepted my proposal at a policy level.

The Authority of the Mahaweli Board had spread all over the country. During the power devolution of 1987, this was not taken into consideration enabling the Mahaweli Board to take pretentious actions. If that is to be stopped the Mahaweli statute should be withdrawn and new act enacted in its place. Further , by virtue of the Act no 58 of 1992, Some of the powers granted to Provincial council were taken away and given to GAA and GSS. This act also should be revoked, he had said.
