Dhanabalaa dwells on Navalar’s vision, mission for Saivaism

All Ceylon Hindu Congress Senior Vice President Vidaikodddy Chelvar Sinnadurai Dhanabalaa has observed that the vision and mission of Arumuga Navalar for the renaissance of Saivaite religion is relevant even today.

He was delivering the inaugural address at the Arumuga Navalar Vizha held in Batticaloa recently to mark the 60 th anniversary of the All Ceylon Hindu Congress.

All Ceylon Hindu Congress President Kandiah Neelakandan presided. General Secretary Dr. Muthiah Kathirkamanathan proposed the vote of thanks.

Dhanabalaa continued that Arumuganavar’s vision and mission contributed in a great way to ensure the renaissance of Saivaism in the island and to preserve the identity of Saivaism. He achieved it facing serious Himalayan challenges. He braved the atrocities of colonialism and did yeoman service for Saiva community.

He added that Arumuga Navalar took constructive measures to preserve Saivaism among the people through establishing schools and serving the people. He engaged in delivering religious discourses on Saivaism instilling the spirit of Saivaism. That mission of Arumuga Navalar is very relevant even today when Saivaite religion faces threats to its purity and orthodoxy.
