Director of Point Pedro Base Hospital refusing to treat Corona suspects, condemns the Medical Officers Association

The Coordinator for North of State Medical Officers Association, Dr.Kandeepan has said that the Director of the Point Pedro base Hospital is refusing to treat Corona suspects and that action is being taken to suspend the Director till the Corona threat passes away.

All the Regional Health Offices are operating excellently. Particularly the Medical Officers of Health serving in these regional officers had forgotten their difficulties and engaging in their duties wholeheartedly. Not only them but also the PHIs and other staff are cooperating well.

However, they have sent letters saying that the Director of Point Pedro Base Hospital, which is an important hospital had informed that he will not cooperate with them.

Several complaints had been made against this Director, when he was working at Chavakachcheri Base Hospital, but no action had been taken against him.

Now that the doctors at Point Pedro Base Hospital had written to us that they cannot work with this Director, we have recommended to the Secretary to the Ministry of Health that, another Director be appointed to Point Pedro Hospital. We hope that he will give a reply soon, he said.
