Discrimination in Kurikadduwan Boat service, Tourist given preferential treatment

Discrimination in Kurikadduwan Boat service, Tourist given preferential treatment

It is alleged that the Navy personnel operating boat services are giving preferential treatment to southern tourist and the Government officers using these services are affected by this.

Lot of commuters are using the boat services from Kurrikadduwan. “Vadatharahai”,” Neduntharahai” and ” Kumuthiny”are serving the needs of these commuters.

Vadatharahai went out of order a month back, and Neduntharahai went unserviceable 4 days back. This had made transport more difficult.

This has made government who visit islands on duty have expressed their concern.

The Navy men on duty in Neduntharahai which commence it journey at 8.30 a.m. take the tourist only  and they are also taken subjected to whims and fancies of the Navy men. Sometimes the boat would have gone long before scheduled time. The officials who go up to kurrikadduwan have to return without attending their duties.

Officals and School children should be given preference. Action should be taken regarding the Navy men giving preference to tourists, they said.
