Disorders in development Officer Appointment: One Buddhist monk appointed in the Jaffna list

Several people have pointed out that some disorders are evident in the appointment of Development Officers in Jaffna District. This problem dragging for a long time, events are happening to raise suspicion whether political influences are playing havoc in this.

The list of persons appointed to Development Officers post were published by the Ministry of National Police and Economic Affairs  was published in the Website to be removed  after some time. In that list, 334 graduates were appointed in Jaffna, 380 for Baticaloa,64 for Trincomalee,71 for Kilinochchi73 for Mulaitheevu, 126 for Mannar,  among others.

Several people updated protest against the list. Although it was stated that internal graduates will be preference, it was noticed that large number of external candidates being taken in. More new graduates being appointed in North and East had raised a question whether the government adhere to a uniform policy  with regard to the appointments in North and East.  Several people who are already in Govrnment jobs also had been included in the list for Jaffna, Baticaloa and Amparai. To rub salt in the wound, A Buddhist monk in Naga Vihare Jaffna had also been appointed in the Jaffna list.

It has been pointed out that these appointments made by the Ministry of National Police and Economic Affairs, directly under the purview of Prime Minister are seem to be completely political appointments.
