A dispute has formed between the NP Governor Reginold Cooray and the Acting Chief Minister, K. Sarweswaran over the transfers of Secretaries to Ministries of the NPC. As a result the Governor has postponed the transfers that were to occur yesterday, Thursday.
The Governor and the Actg. CM met yesterday to discuss about the transfers of Secretaries of the NPC Ministries.
During this meeting the Actg. CM had insisted that Theivendran should be appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Education. But the Governor had said that, the Secretary to the Public Service Commission, Mohanathas will be appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Theiventhiran as the Secretary to the Public Service Commission and in charge of Training Management.
Thereafter the Actg. CM had said that the Governor can only appoint people recommended by them. The dispute had risen between them because of this.
Following the dispute the Actg. CM had contacted the CM, who is on pilgrimage in India and he had requested that, if Theiventhiran is not appointed, to cancel all transfers. As a consequence, the Governor had postponed all transfers.
