A resolution has been passed in the NPC to approve the implementation of a project to supply drinking water to Jaffna Peninsula from Pali Aru in Mannar, in order to solve the drinking water shortage in the Jaffna Peninsula.
The 133rd sitting of the NPC was held in its House at Kaithady. A special resolution was proposed of the Leader of the house, C.V.K. Sivagnanam, seconded by the CM, C.V.Wijgneswaran and unanimously adopted.
The scheme to supply drinking water to Jaffna Peninsula from the Spill area of Pali Aru under Vevunikulam Scheme had been already discussed in the National Guidance Committee meeting held on 2nd of last month. Around 165 square Kilometre are had been identified for the water supply scheme to supply water to Jaffna Peninsula.
The Chief Minister, C.V.Wigneswaran in seconding the resolution said, it is a good scheme and that he is welcoming it. Following this the resolution was adopted unanimously.
