European Union Election Monitors and Commonwealth Observers called on President Maithripala Sirisena at President’s Office yesterday.
They held discussions with the President. The EU observers led by Cristian Preda are to visit the 28 districts in the nine provinces, while the Commonwealth Observers are to visit the provinces and monitor the credibility of pre poll situation.
President pledged to hold the upcoming 2015 Parliamentary Elections in a free and fair manner.
The President also said that he will create an environment where the Election Commissioner and the law enforcement officers headed by the Inspector General of Police will be able to do their duties without any undue interference.
