Encroaching Bikkhu complaints in the Police, Raviharan summoned to Police

Former Northern Provincial Council  Thurairasa Raviharan has been summoned by the Mulaitheevu police for inquiries relevant to a complaint made by the Buddhist Monk, Colomba Methalanka Thero who had encroached into the premises of the Chemmalai East Neeraviyadi Pillaiyar Temple. It is notable that this Bikkhu had occupied the same area declared by the Archaeological Department to be Archaeological site and had built Vihare and other buildings, but, the department is trying to forbid the worship rights of the Tamil people in the same area.

In this context, Tamil people of the area had gone to this temple on January 14th had laid a foundation stone reconstruct the Pilaiyar Temple on its original location.

Two cases are pending in the courts regarding the conflict at this temple. However Raviharan has been summoned to the police relevant to a complaint made by the said Bikkhu.

Several factions have expressed their dissatisfaction over police not taking any action against the Buddhist Monk who had encroached a part on the temple land grabbed by the Archaeological Department and put up buildings there, while harassing the Tamil people continuously with action against them.
