Encroaching Sinhalese demand Housing scheme in lands of Tamil People with Deeds of British

The Sinhalese from Negombo who had encroached lands at Kokkilai Estuary are demanding for housing scheme in those lands. If the housing scheme is not given to them before next Monday , they have warned that they will undertake a siegeing of the Mulaitheevu District Secretariat. They have accused that the Mulaitheevu District Secretariat, Karaithuraipattu Divisional Secretariat and the TNA MP, Shanthy had jointly stopped the housing scheme ear marked for them.

They have also said that their ancestors had live there from 1934 and they had lived there 30 years all throughout the war.

Commenting on their claims MP, Shanthy said that the Tamil People are in possession of deeds granted by the British.  They were driven away by the Army and Sinhalese settled in their agricultural lands and that is why she stopped the establishment of housing scheme.
