Activities are underway behind the screens to change the entrance of the Palaly Air Port which is currently lying to the East of Palaly Road to Myliddy side which is lying to the west.
Although the development of the Palaly Air Port under Indian financing is a blessing to the people of the North, changing of the entrance from East to west is raising several questions.
The area east of Palaly Road, where the old entrance was located, is a heavily populated area and consists of the HSZ in extent of 2000 acre of private lands.
If the entrance is again located in the east the 2000 acre extent land has to be released. Meanwhile, if the entrance is located in the West, the private lands lying to the East could acquired or kept unreleased under the guise of the Security of the Air Port.
Nearly 800 acres of private lands are found adjacent to Thellipalai Cancer hospital on the south.
Fears are also expressed that balance of the Atchuvely – Palaly road along with 1200 acres of private lands may go unreleased, if this change is effected.
Hence the people should become aware of their lands being robbed or remaining unreleased under the guise of development and the Tamil politicians should exert pressure on relevant authorities regarding this.
