EP Chief Ministerial post; UPFA to support SLMC

UPFA has consented to support the candidature of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress in the election of a Chief Minsiter of the Eastern Provicne, reliable sources reveal.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the 16 Eastern Provincial Councilors held at the Head Quarters of the SLMC in Colombo. The meeting was presided over by Opposiiton Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva. UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha and Eastern Provicne Chief Minister Najeeb Abdul Majeed also participated.

Former Chief Minister of the Eastern Provicne Sivanesadurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan and two other Muslim members did not attend.
