EP Governor Requests British delegation to help the resettlement

The Eastern Province Governor, Rohitha Bogollagama requested the British Parliamentary Delegation to provide help in the resettlement in the Eastern Province. The British Delegation on a visit to Sri Lanka, made a visit to Eastern Province yesterday and met the Governor and had discussions with him.

This meeting was held at the auditorium of the Trincomalee District Secretariat. Speaking there the Governor, Rohitha Bogollagama said,” There are several problems of the people, unsolved for a long time in the Eastern Province. Particularly, Resettlement, land release, employment opportunities for unemployed graduates, shortage of teachers, Drought are notable.  People had undertaken several struggles in the past for them.

These needs of the people should be fulfilled immediately. The British Government should provide all possible assistance for this. The British Government should discuss with the Sri Lankan Government on this ”, he said.

The Delegation in reply said that they are prepare to help Sri Lankan people. We will make the British Government aware of the Situation here and will facilitate meetings between the Governments.
