Establish rule of Law and preserve Rights of Minorities, Struggle undertaken and memorandum sent to UN Commissioner

An attention drawing struggle was undertaken in North, against the cremation of the Buddhist monk within the Neeraviyadi Pillaiyar Temple premises in open breach of courts order and  AALs and people assaulted when they tried to stop the cremation and demanding to take legal action against the offenders.

This protests were undertaken under the aegis of North – East Civil society in front of Mulaitheevu District Secretariat, Vavuniya old Bus stand and at Old District Secretariat, Kilinochchi. Similar protest were undertaken at Mannar District Secretariat,  under the aegis of  Organization for Social Development of Mannar.

Protesters said that the minority people are being continuously subjected to oppression of Majority people and they had sent a memorandum to UN demanding that pressure be exerted on Sri Lanka to take legal action against the offenders. At the end of the protest, memorandums were handed over to the respective UN Offices.
