EU Parliamentary Group visits North for studying the current situation

A group of EU Parliamentary group has come to Jaffna to study about the current situation prevailing here.

This group met the Northern Governor, Reginold Cooray, at his office and had discussions with him.

This Parliamentary group had found out from the Governor regarding, True incidents which have occurred after the war, consequences of them, the drafting of the new Constitution, details about people made to disappear, Land problems, housing problems, Development projects and their progress.

It also studied widely about Projects undertaken by the government for assisting, woman leadership families.

The Parliamentary group also made suggestions about the rights of women and the changes that should  be made in them

They thanked the governor for the opportunity granted to them.

“Historically, there ample chances for the Tamil and Sinhala people to get united. Racism is instigated for political gains. Special attention should be paid in acting against it” , said the British Labour Party MP, Richard.
