Ex-Minister Abdul Cader passed away in Kandy at the age of 79. He was receiving treatment at a private hospital. He entered Pariament as a UNP candidate and held the portfolio of Co-operatives in early 2000.

Later, he joined the Rajapakse government and became Deputy Minsiter.
