The NPC Minister of Health P.Sathiyalingam has announced that examinations to determine whether suspicious injection were administered to former militants while being in detention in rehabilitation camps and prisons will be held in two weeks. Those former militants who wish to undergo this test may do so, he said.
Accusations has been made that suspicious injections were administered and food with poisonous chemicals were served to them. More than 100 militants had died mysteriously after being released from detention.
He also said that a committee had been appointed under the Provincial Health Services Deputy Director, A. Ketheeswaran, to make special arrangement for this examination and said the participation will be voluntary on the part of the militants.
