The Excavations being carried out at the Sathosa Premises at the entrance to Mannar Town were continued for the 29th day yesterday. The excavations are done in the presence of Mannar judge, T.J.Prabaharan and led by Forensic Expert W.R.A.S.Rajapakse and Kelany Universirty’s Prof. Raj Somadeva.
The quantum of excavations has been reduced temporarily, and the task of removing already recovered human remains have been concentrated on and reaching near completion.
When the front side of the premises was deepened, large amounts of human bones fractions were found. Following this find it had been decided to widen and deepen the search area, action had been for that. The work here is being delayed due to shortage of human resources.
More than 30 full skeletons and partial section have been recovered here.
It is notable that, all remains have been cleaned and numbered as per legal requirement and kept under the custody of the courts.
