Comrade Jeyakkody who was an eye witness to 1983 Welikade Prison massacre of Tamil Political Prisoners, which has remained to this day an unhealing scar in the minds of Tamil people, passed away in Chennai on Sunday. He was 63 years old at his death.
As an eye witness to 1983 Welikade Prison massacre of Tamil people and later an eye witness to the famous Batticaloa jail break by Tamil militants, had documented his testimony as the eye witness.
A native of Passaiyoor Jaffna, and born in 1954, he joined the Eelam Liberation Struggle in the initial years, and was a member of the politburo of the EPRLF. He highlighted the tribulations of Eelam Tamils and the true faces of the Sinhala chauvinist in every nook and corner of Tamil Nnadu.
The loss of Comrade Jayakkody is a great loss, not only to EPRLF and its Comrades, but also to the whole Tamil National Race. We convey our deepest sympathies to his family bereaved by his demise, says a news release of the EPRLF.
