Fasting TPP admitted to prison hospital with deteriorated body condition

Sivapragasam Sivaseelan (aged 32 years), a Tamil Political Prisoner (TPP) from Vaddakachchi in Kilinochchi, who had gone into fasting protest for the last 5 days was admitted to Prison Hospital with seriously deteriorated body condition yesterday.

Sivaseelan was arrested in 2009 and is detained in the Anuradhapura Prison for the last 10 years. He had lost his mother and brother earlier during this detention period and he had lost his father recently. The continuous loss of relatives had subjected him to depression and he had insisted he be released immediately. Although, he had accepted the offer of release with a short term rehabilitation,  his case is being dragged on he says.

following  him experiencing breathing difficulties, he was admitted to the prison hospital with the assistance of the other TPPs.

No politician had visited the TPP on fasting protest, the other TPPs said.
