Federal solution will never be granted. Dissolve NPC, boil southern politicians

The NPC adopted a solution proposal for ethnic problem calling for a joint ruling by Tamil and Sinhala states on 22nd.

Several factions in the south had expressed opposition to this draft. Some had called for the dissolution of the NPC while some others had said that federal solution could never be granted. Some highlights are given below.

Deputy Minister, Ajith P. Perera: Colombo Government will never accept the NPC’s solution proposals. This Government will never accept a solution on the basis of Federal system.

Attorney at Law, Komin Thayasiri:  Each of the Members of the PCs, take an oath of alliance to the unitary state constitution. They swear that they will not split the country. NPC members are operating in contravention to these oaths. They should be arrested.

Diplomat Dayan Jayatilleke:  PCs can take action regarding things granted by 13th Amendment. The PCs have no authority on things connected to Sovereignty and Power Devolution which come under the purview of the Central Government. NPC is poking its nose unnecessarily in these things.

In the past they adopted a Genocide resolution. They are doing something not within their authority.

Is the Colombo Government is ignorant of these act or have no back bone to take action against them?

State Minister for Defence , Ruwan Wijewardene: No harm will be allowed to be caused to Unitary State System or unity of the country.

Udaya Gammanpilla, Hela Urumaya: The draft of the NPC is a terror. It’s against the Constitution. The NPc should be dissolved forthwith and the President should take over the powers.

Vijithe Herath, JVP: The NPC’s resolution is an act of kindling racism. It is not an appropriate resolution for the country.

Hon. Reginold Cooray, Governor, NP:  It is important to examine whether the proposals are within the constitution.
