Federal System appropriate to Sri Lanka: Sumanthiran in discourse on Interim Report

The mandate given by the Tamil people to our party is to formulate a Constitution embodying the basic aspirations of Tamil People, said the spokesman for TNA and MP, M.A. Sumanthiran.

A meeting for explaining the contents of Interim Report to people was held at Kalmunai yesterday. Participating in this meeting Sumanthiran said so while addressing the gathering.

Elaborating further, he said that those people who are expressing unnecessary Criticism relevant to Interim Report should read the first two pages and get themselves clarified.

Further, it has not been indicated  in it that  “Samasty” or “Federal System”   is inappropriate to Sri Lanka. On the contrary, it has been categorically stated that ” Unitary” is inimical to Sri Lanka, he said.

While saying the “Aekiya Rajya” indicates that the country united. ” Orumitha Nadu” has been used in the report as the the Tamil equivalent for that.

But, some are screaming unnecessarily, without understanding it clearly. Further the word Unitary has a nature of centralizing the power. But “Aekiya Rajya” denotes a united country, he said.
The Leader of ITAK and MP, Mawai Senathyrasa also was present at this event.
