Fighting between students groups – court orders to statement from Dean of the Arts Faculty

Jaffna Magistrate court ordered the police on Friday to record statements from the Dean of the Arts Faculty, Registrar and three lecturers.

Two groups of students were involved in a fighting inside and outside the faculty and when the police went to the spot they had gone inside the faculty.

Following a first report from police was submitted to the court, and the police reporting that the lecturers did not cooperate with them in inquiries, court ordered to arrest and produce those who were involved in disturbing the peace.

In this context the police produced the Dean of the Faculty, the Registrar and three lecturers in the court. The ordered them to cooperate with inquiries and give their statements.
